Strive to incorporate a small handful of links to authoritative sources throughout your copy. This communicates to your readers (and to Google’s algorithms) that your content, while unique, gives credit where it’s due. If you want to link to somebody but you don’t want it to count as a vote (you don’t want to pass link-juice), or you support user-generated content and want to deter spammers, you can use a nofollow link. Just as you would do with blog comments, always add value to the conversation and link only to good resources. Enter competitor’s domain on SimilarWeb.com to see where their visitors are coming from, which social networks they use and see what’s interesting for that audience. Prevent duplicate content. Don’t confuse Google with almost similar pages. Those serve no one.
